Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL)
Buy stuff now, pay later in chunks. Usually interest-free if you pay on time. PayJustNow, PayFlex, and Float do this. Convenient but if you miss a payment, fees pile up and your credit report gets dinged. It's still credit, so be careful.
Usage Examples
"Zanele wanted a new laptop from Takealot for R6,000 but didn't have the full cash. PayJustNow split it into three payments. First payment at checkout, then R2,000 per month. No interest. Sorted."
"Nomsa used Float at Woolworths to split her grocery shop into three payments. She was tight on payday, and it helped her spread the cost. No interest, just three dates she had to remember."
"Thandi tried BNPL at a store but missed a payment. Bang — R150 fee. Now it's on her credit report. She pays on time with everything else, but lenders see 'BNPL default' and wonder if she's reliable. The story: interest-free looks good until it isn't."
