Principal Amount
The original amount of money borrowed, excluding interest and fees. When you make loan repayments, a portion goes toward interest and the remainder reduces the principal.
Usage Examples
"The principal amount of my loan is R80,000, but with interest and fees I'll repay R112,000 in total."
"In the early months of repayment, most of your payment covers interest rather than reducing the principal."
